just peeked out my window and it is sooooo beautiful out!  297 inches of white snow! okay, not that much but it's so nice. i can handle the cold sooo much better when it's snowing-- otherwise it's just miserable!

so i just celebrated my 27th birthday in north carolina-- it was brrrr there but i was all warm and fuzzy inside to be with friends for the weekend. our host was amazing and we just had the perfect time. we did head to a bar in winston-salem for the superbowl-- was so weird not to be in indy with the true colts fans! several folks in the bar did have on colts jerseys so that was lovely-- enjoyed the game and laughed at k-fed's commercial as well as prince's doo-rag

i am glad to be back in my home and looking forward to the rest of winter! hope to go xc skiing this wkend- that would be amazing.

going to watch a movie now even though i should be going to bed!

MLK Day

Email from my sis this morning:

Check out www.mlkday.org - it's an initiative to make MLK Day a day of service and you can search for service projects in your area by state.

She signed her family up to make memory books for foster children and pack lunches for the needy. I signed up for a morning with Habitat for Humanity.

MLK Day of service - nice idea!

Bye Bye 2006!

Happy 2007!!

If you have not seen The Wire --- rent it!! It has been a favorite show of my sister and her husband's since it came out on HBO in 2004. After seeing them rant excitedly about the show over Thanksgiving, it is now an obsession for my mom and I to watch all the seasons in 2007.  We are h-o-o-k-e-d.

Here are all my favorite moments of 2006:

January - ringing in 2006 with my mom and sister playing poker and drinking champagne - they refused to let me go party ha! But I had fun :)

just finished my two-page to-do list and it includes a xanga entry. might as well start there! :)

i'm in montreal (quebec) this week having the greatest time in the city where i grew up. in a few minutes i will walk downtown to meet my two cousins and catch up with them -- can't wait! they are all big and buff now lol. the city is soooo different, though! the official languages while i was growing up were english and french, so street signs, store signs, billboards, etc were in both languages. since french is now the official language, you cannot find a word in english ANYWHERE.  feels like i'm in paris. but of course, talk to any salesperson or waiter, and they speak fluent english. go figure!

my aunt (i am staying with her, she's one of my 2 faves!) lives in a condo on a canal about a quarter mile away from the outdoor market.  my mom was here from miami until last night, so in the morning we could go for a walk/run, stop at the market for fresh fruit/cheese/etc, sit and watch the kayaks go by, have lunch with my grandpa (his old folks' home is so nice, i wouldn't mind living there!), and just enjoy the city. mom and i went over to my old school for the deaf on monday - i was invited there for a job interview. it was sooo nice to be there and see all my old teachers, audiologists, counselors (all of them since my first day there at age 4!) but i couldn't really work there - it's an oral school and they have such a medical perspective of deaf children. it's a very warm and loving environment, but doesn't fit who i am now. meaning i probably couldn't move to montreal to work - oh well. just as well since i can't read the street signs :)

bonsoir!
